I am not a camera. I am not painting “reality”. I am painting how I remember it, how I feel about it, what it makes me think of, how it’s relevant. My experience of it. Not a fantasy view, or how I want it to be, but how it IS for me. I listen to both myself and what is on the canvas – we evolve together. Painting is an articulation of feelings and ideas. Through making them visible, they become clear to me, and, of course, evolve. Painting is also a birth. What we need to become strives to make itself conscious and carnate. It involves awareness of things and their relationships and most importantly of oneself. Art is a both effective and efficient means to accomplish this.
