My daughter half-way round the world
We grew up together,
I smile softly
She a little girl, full of energy and fun
Me, a man, so much older than I knew
Both discovering, exploring, absorbing
slowly understanding and digesting
She, the World
Me, the I
Today we talk easily,
supporting each other
Unspoken Love
As we dissolve and digest
Our lessons
I know where music came from
gums
stuck stuck
together
hmm hmmm hmmmm
Everyone rolling in the grass
Laughing their butts off
Then –a Chorus
and Harmony
When I see you, look at you
I feel not just happy, but right
Not just where, but with
Apart, shopping or work or travel
I am ok
Our connection is within
not in space
Connected by ephemeral threads of
Spirit
If you leave
I shall understand and wish and pray
you well
Nothing has changed
You must live YOUR life,
and I mine
Not sewn together
but ONE
Ramble on,
Don’t stop, can’t …
nor look behind
Where terror hides
The future, at least, is concrete –
ALL solvable <– I have choice
Still, some things collide
Then, alone;
and,
in mystic form, Dreams arrive . . Showing the Way
Past ignored, and left behind
Future resolving, and so brightening ->
To relaxing in the Now
I may not know who I am
But I know what I am
Yesterday
kept alive by historians
And
People who wish things were
Different
Arriving home, late
Not just tired, but empty
Entering through the back,
Kitchen dark
A sigh – of relief, letting go
and a touch of sadness
A hint of light in the living room
I enter
A cake with candles!
For Me
My wife sneaks out, a little snicker
Puckering her mouth
As she whispers warm breath into my ear
Happy Birthday
I love you so
