The most important thing about Romeo and Juliet is that they are children. Not yet blinded and poisoned by the shoulds of their culture. The tragedy is that they are destroyed by it, not yet being strong enough to resist.

It touches us because we are Romeo and Juliet.

There are many good boys and good girls out there. Doing what their told so they’ll be “ok” and successful.

How do we become who we really are? Who we could be. Nourished by our context – which is indeed necessary, yet without being suffocated by it.

Running away is just that. No one scores a goal by leaving the field.
